Caring for Life
"Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth." Psalms 71:9
In 1943, Presbyterian Homes was founded, by a group of concerned citizens, as a warm, homelike solution for this region's aging population. While our origins lie in the Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Homes is an independently funded, 501 (c) (3)nonprofit organization. We welcome all people, regardless of their religious affiliation or financial capabilities.
Serving older adults throughout Northwest Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Homes has four facilities located in Erie, Fairview, Oil City and Titusville, along with an independent apartment housing complex for low income seniors in Girard. Presbyterian Homes provides assisted living and nursing care to over 600 residents served annually.
Over 10,000 individuals have been served to date. For more than half a century, the Presbyterian Homes have been places where elderly loved ones receive the highest quality of care with dignity and love.
While many people can afford the cost of living at Presbyterian Homes, others cannot. Each year, Presbyterian Homes underwrites an average of $500,000 in healthcare costs for assisted living residents who are in need. And the need is growing.
In 1998, Presbyterian Homes established its visionary program, Caring for Life. Funds donated to this program help us to support the daily costs of providing medicine, nutritious meals and quality care for those in need. The Caring for Life Campaign also provides funds for capital improvements to our facilities and addresses essential safety and comfort needs.
Donations to the Caring for Life Campaign for Benevolent Care and Capital Improvements are the key to the success of this neighbor-helping-neighbor program.
We invite you to join us in helping to continue the Presbyterian Homes tradition of care. Your support of our proud tradition of providing the best care possible for our older brothers and sisters is deeply appreciated and will ensure that our families, friends and neighbors, as well as ourselves, will receive Caring for Life.
